Heartaches 2 was a continuation of the book Heartaches written by H.M. Irwing. The book was about betrayal, rape, love and vengeance. Set in the modern Australia, Heartaches 2 elaborated the Heartaches series by bringing in more characters, thereby expanding the themes.

It was no longer about Anna and Rafe, and their salvation and love story (which started to bore me) but was about different characters with their secrets and agenda. Ned came with vengeance, Suzi came with her plan to hook unto a rich man and Pat came (even though he has always been here) and became prominent with the acceptance of who he was and his love life. There came in Aunty Bella and Peter Preston with their big occasion which paved way for the gathering of foes in Ned's mansion. Irwing's twists and turns of events made the novel interesting and captivating to read on without pause.

Anna Simmons baffled me with her gullible nature. Having suffered in the hands of the Preston's, I found it hard to believe that she was considering that what she thought she shared with Matt was real. It showed her level of intelligence which got me comparing her to Suzi, the beauty without the brains. The book ended in a suspense that have kept me wondering if Rafe and Anna trust the plans of Suzi. It got me thinking if Suzi could make use of her brains for a change instead of her physical endowment.

The writer's style of writing was good and embedded with good literary devices. I still marvel at Irwing's descriptive powers. It makes a reader pause to visualize how the object or subject of description would be.

I would have rated this book all 4 stars but there were notable errors. Thus, I rate Heartaches 2 3 stars out of 4. The book is a very exhilarating book of the genre of romance with lots of explicit sexual features and descriptions. The book is meant for the young at heart who love romance and suspense.
