Heartaches 2 – Bad Boy Vibes is the thrilling continuation of Anna and Rafe’s love story and their inexorable fight against abuse. The first book highlights how two people both severely damaged by their past experience fall in love while helping to battle each other’s demons and desperately trying to overcome the stigma that accompanies the brutality of their horrific encounter.

The book kick starts its plot at the fight between Rafe and Eric Dayton, the fight takes a drastic turn leaving Eric unconscious. He later returns and manipulates Anna into dropping her case against the Prestons when he puts her at a disadvantaged position. The story evolves and becomes even more intense, Anna and Rafe are both determined more than ever to see the downfall of their oppressors but it all comes crashing down when a bitter truth is revealed. Surprisingly, their love which kept growing stronger even in the face of opposition wasn’t enough to keep them together due to the fear of the shocking revelation and things ended up going down the hill. They later find their way back to each other when they realized the dire urgency to protect a loved one from falling victim to the manipulations of one of their enemies.

It is incredible that both of them were able to find love amid all that happened to them and also find true and solid friendship at the military base which gives them a safe haven outside all the drama and pain that keeps hovering over them. Furthermore, it’s nice to see that despite the fact that the story is centered on Anna and Rafe, the sub-plots in the story are more pronounced than in the first book of the series and new characters are introduced as well. One thing I don’t like though is the constant insecurities Anna and Rafe deal with in their relationship such as their unwarranted jealousy towards Pat.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. This is because the book is really thrilling and makes you quite eager to move on to the next of the series and find out how it all ends. It has very interesting characters and an amazing plot though there are lots of extreme emotions pertaining to the characters.

The book leaves us wondering as to if they are finally going to get the justice they deserve especially with the help of new allies whom share similar desires to defeat their oppressors. I definitely recommend this book to readers of romance.
