Heartaches is an intense story that has sexual abuse as its major theme. It also talks about murder,use of drug and romance.The story starts with a college student named Anna Simmons who lost her abusive stepfather leaving her and her mother to cope with her stepbrother, Brian Simmons,who is equally abusive and controlling,who is running away from his debts and decides to trade his stepsister to his debtors in order to be granted his freedom.This made Anna turn to an old family friend who also has his own assault to deal with.Both teamed up to plot against the people responsible for their trauma.Along the line they find that true love does exist.


The characters in the book are very powerful.The author made the reader to feel for Anna and the others who were as well victims of sexual abuse.Here the characters battle with trauma from sexual abuse and they fight to live their everyday lives.Here you will see that the law enforcement wasnt able to help much with Anna's predicament.This is usually so if the people involved are wealthy and powerful people which leaves the law enforcers with little to do.


I will like to believe that this book is meant for people dealing with similar issue.They should speak up and not deal with it themselves.They shouldnt see it as their fault that they were sexually abused just as Anna thought.They should seek professional help such as a guidance counsellor,a psychologist or someone they trust to help them overcome their trauma rather than shutting themselves out from the world just as Anna did before she decided to speak up.


The story 'Heartaches' was amazing and interesting to read and it was also filled with suspense.The author did a good job of not digressing but allowed the story to unfold in sequel.All through the book,i was filled with suspense because i wanted to know what happened at the end.


I would rate the book 'Heartaches' a 3 out of 4 stars because it has no errors. It was easy to read and it can help readers facing similar issues in our world today.The sexual contents in this book makes it certain the story is for adults and mature minds.Mature adults will be able to understand the insinuations in this book and also handle its sexual contents.They will be able to flow with it...
