Claire Williams is a size 18 woman living in a skinny supermodel world ever since her sister, Janice, became a model. Her biggest regret, however, is sleeping with her sister’s fiancé Colin, which in reality ends up setting off the best chain of events.

Erin Robertson use to be a top model but retired to become an agent. Since he is now one of the best in the business, Claire wants him to take over Janice’s contract. He isn’t interested in Janice though, he wants Claire to model. Her first photo shoot goes okay, the stylist does not approve of her weight and hair but she manages to not get too discouraged. Ever since agreeing to be a model, Erin has been annoying her at every turn, from walking in “accidently” when she was naked before wardrobe changes to blaming her whenever men are flirting with her. This turns into a quick passionate relationship that is put to the test when Erin has to return to modeling with Janice as his partner.

Curve Couture is a fast paced book by H M Irwing introducing us to a plus sized model who gains confidence not only in herself but her relationship. I always love reading book in which the main character goes though a transition like that. She was able to make healthy decisions about who should or should not be in her life while starting a modeling career. I even got nervous when she walked her first runway!

H M Irwing did a good job making sure to tell us that Claire felt okay as a size 18, but with training and proper diet she became a toned size 16. Erin also never told her she needed to lose weight, which I was happy about. There is mention of eating disorders and drugs being used in the modeling industry but Claire is very proud of herself for doing it the right way.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because even though I enjoyed reading it there were parts which I wish the other had spent more time writing about. Also there were a couple grammatical errors in the story, one of which stood out more because it was a punctuation error. As silly as it sounds I was not a fan of Erin’s name, I would have gotten less confused if it had been Eric or Aaron. Despite this I would still recommend this book to friends.
