The general impression I got upon reading “Deceptive Calm,” was that the author brings to the reader various challenges of life, and how we respond to each challenge can determine how long or brief one can remain in a particular situation. Another element is that the reader is confronted with the issue of love, which always prevails regardless of many obstacles and many difficulties.

One of my many points of interest I loved about the book, is that as a reader I acknowledged that, it doesn't matter how one starts in life, but how one can choose to finish. The key factor the reader is highlighting here is the driving force of a set determined goal, which can be achieved.

I rate the book a full 5/5 stars... In my opinion, the author has an excellent use of grammar, though there are scenes of strong and minor abusive language used. But I was inspired about how the book was narrated. There is a perfect flow of events, and I was never lost at any stage where the author interchanged the narration between teenage innocence, betrayal, religion, romance, politics, history, career, family life styles, issues of mixed relationship and race.

Other elements that contributed to my rating... I did not find any spelling errors, nor typos, the book has flawless editing. I am perfectly satisfied with the contents of the book and I do not have any negative points to say about it, in terms of good professional drama and excellent storytelling. But in terms of the sexual content, it is extreme as it is described in detail.

But overall, it is an excellent book to read and I highly recommend it to everyone over the ages of 18, but mostly to young adults to consider their decisions before acting.
