Phone Calls: Love and Money by Bela Feketekuty must be one of the shortest books I have ever read. The structure of the author’s writing is unique; simple yet complex. The book is basically about two characters, Bill and Jane, both from humble beginnings who had a “meet cute” during an IT course they were both attending, and although hesitant at first, Jane agrees to go on a date with Bill.

Jane is exceedingly successful in her career, and she drives a Porsche and lives in a fancy apartment to show it, but Bill is not as successful as she is, and Jane claims that she does not care about it. Just like that, they begin to spend more time together, going on trips and having date nights. Things seem to be going well, but there is a twist! I highly recommend you check out this story to find out how it ends. Will they end up together? Or will their two different worlds cause them to divide?

The style of the story really threw me off. I was expecting a regular narrated story, but instead, I picked up this wondrous work of artistic expression that is told in a poetic and enjoyable format. It was a short book, and it took me less than 10 minutes to finish it. The author mainly told the story from Bill’s perspective, but I really wanted to know how Jane was feeling the entire time. But regardless, I genuinely enjoyed the book. It was short and easy to understand, and to crown it all, it was based on a real-life event. That even makes it more real.

Personally, I had nothing to dislike about the book. Although some readers may find it disappointing to see how short it is. Despite that, it was an interesting book, and i would recommend this book to readers who enjoy contemporary romance.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars as there were no grammatical errors noted. It was professionally edited. Though it is a short book, the poetic nature caught my attention and made me fall in love with this book. A short book is easy to understand, and the fact that it is based on a real-life event made it more enjoyable to me. A very interesting piece of work; I give the author a thumbs up!
