“My Trip to Adele” is a beautiful and realistic romance book coauthored by two siblings, Rana. I. Alyaseer and Ahmad. I. Alyaseer. The story revolves around three couples who love the singer, Adele. While Elias dreams of his long-lost love Malika in Italy, Yaser and Mariam are trying to rekindle the flame of a now boring marriage in Las Vegas, and Nadia is in Jordan struggling as a recently divorced woman in a conservative and male-dominated society. All three of them had plans to watch and be in the live audience of Adele’s concert conducted in Verona. But will they all make it? Elias, a Moroccan, felt amazed at the sight of a Shawafa in the distance while walking through the streets of Rome. The fortune teller, with shocking personal details, led him back to Marrakesh, searching for his forgotten love Malika. Meanwhile, Yaser and Mariam were a married couple, getting help from a marriage counselor. Mariam tried her best to stay in faith, with prayers, and be a good wife, while Yaser found her unengaging. The nonchalant attitude of Mariam irritated him. He found it monotonous to show happiness merely for social media pictures. When a fight happened, both took it out on each other’s parents. Yaser was starting to become an atheist, yearning for warmth and lust. At the same time in Jordan, Nadia was a single mother facing challenges in procuring leave. She missed her happy childhood and despised her abusive ex-husband. She wanted her son Waleed to be happy like any mother. The songs of Adele quoted in each chapter are like a nostalgic walk, transporting the reader back in time when life was carefree and the songs simply phenomenal. The book is a well-written piece, with realistic characters who are flawed in nature, alive with oriental background, and a plot that moves from one scene to the next smoothly. The editing appeared to be of high quality, and I didn’t come across any errors. On a scale of one to five, I would rate the book a five because I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
