Marrying a Playboy Billionaire is a romance book written by H.M. Irwing. The book follows a young career oriented woman called Aria Longbottom. After being dumped by her boyfriend Dale Carmichael on the New Year’s Eve, Aria hooked up with her childhood friend, Justin Kay, a multi-millionaire playboy. Five years later, they both still remember that night. So Aria, in an order to settle what she thinks is an old debt, approaches Justin with nothing more than a business deal. But little does she know that Justin is planning to seduce her with his grin and incorrigible personality and have her in his bed, in his life and as his wife. I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars.
I liked Aria’s character. She was an independent woman who was determined not to repeat her mistakes by falling for Justin. Also, I liked how she was portrayed as a realistic, flawed person. The writing style was okay, easy to read and had some funny elements in the beginning. These were the reasons I didn’t give it 1 star.
There were a lot of things I disliked. First of all, the fact that they are getting married despite the fact that they do not know each other that was the part that annoyed me the most. Even Aria herself said that they didn’t know any personal information about each other. I mean, I know they were friends when they were younger but line were Aria talked about their relationship back then (‘But despite that, Justin and I were barely acquainted. Other than passing greeting, we had rarely exchanged more than a few words) clearly says that two of them were never that close. They had a love affair once, barely talked to each other for five years and then suddenly Justin’s mother suggests they get married. But the part that annoyed me even more was the fact that Aria’s family approved of that. But it didn’t surprise me that much because Aria’s mother described her daughter as fat and said that because of that, she thought Aria would never get married and would die alone.
As for Justin, I really disliked him. Besides his good looks there was nothing else attractive about him. He was rude sometimes, even to his own mother and in one situation (I can’t say which because of spoilers) he came off as a bit aggressive. And there was absolutely nothing to indicate that he was a playboy.
Aria’s and Justin’s relationship was purely based on their sexual attraction to each other and one thing that happened five years ago. That’s it. No sharing jokes our secrets among two of them, no deep personal conversations about life, nothing.
Maybe the book would be appealing to some people that are really into romance and that don’t mind relationships like theirs, but honestly, I wouldn’t really recommend it.
