My trip to Adele is a nonfiction novel written by two Jordanian siblings, Ahmad Alyaseer and Rana Alyaseer, and has as theme different types of relationships in different types of cultures, Adele’s music being the fine thread that connects everything.

The book tells three stories of three different persons, living in 3 different places of the world, with no connection between them: Elias who lives in Rome but travels to Marrakesh, Morocco, to find a lost love; Yaser who lives in Las Vegas, USA; and Nadia who lives in Amman, Jordan. These 3 characters find themselves at a turning point in their lives, they must overcome inner struggles in order to evolve as human beings, to gain confidence and improve their relationships with the others. Adele’s concert held in Verona is like the holy city of Mecca for the Muslims: attending their idol’s performance would help them solve their issues. The trip to Adele`s concert becomes a trip to finding freedom, happiness, peace.
All 3 characters have a few common things: they all adore Adele and her music, they all have to solve a situation which begun 8 years ago, they all have problems in their relationships.

There are many things about this book that I like. I like the structure of the book: each chapter is named after an Adele song and closes with a few lyrics from that song. The final chapter is narrated from the author`s point of view, being like a closure. Of all three stories the one I liked the most is Elias and Malika`s romance.

I didn`t like the ending of the book, it is too rushed. I also think the book lacks a little depth, both in language and in meaning. Sometimes the dialogues are too simple, too dull.

As a conclusion, I enjoyed reading the book My trip to Adele that is why I rate it with 3 out of 4 stars. It is easy to read, really catchy, relaxing and it keeps you curious about how the situation will evolve. I consider this book a great movie script, and I think making a film based on it would be a great success due to the exotic and fascinating locations, due to Malikas`s beauty and mystery, due to the soundtrack.

I think it is a good book and I recommend it to others, people who are looking for answers themselves, who have difficulties in their relationships, or just like to relax and read.
