The idea of reincarnation and two people who are meant to be together in every lifetime has always captivated me. "Yesterday" narrates the tale of two such lovers who were meant to be together for the rest of their lives.

The narrative centers on Amanda Parker and Mark Callahan, who connected immediately despite their unexpected meeting in a difficult situation. Both Amanda and Mark feel as though they have known each other for a very long time after Amanda saves Mark from an accident that could have killed her. A few years later, Amanda lost her parents, and more recently, her boyfriend. The trauma of these losses has left Amanda believing that everyone she loves will die. She is adamant that she won't initiate contact with Mark or follow him around. She also feels as though she is connected to Mark through a clock that chimes in tandem with all of this. Following a few instances, they are both resolved to unravel the enigma surrounding their emotions and how it relates to the clock.

This novel discovered the most exquisite tale about the characters' previous lives as the events transpired, transporting us back to the period of conflict when they met and fell in love. The most intriguing aspect of this novel, in my opinion, was how everything was so enigmatic and how each little detail contributed to the overall plot. I was captivated by this book from the very beginning and wanted to finish all the chapters in order to understand the whole story. The primary plot, which I almost wept over, is revealed in the last chapter and perfectly captures the title. The only thing that bothered me was the feeling that their relationship began far too soon. I prefer characters to be more tense, to deny their emotions, and to gradually develop feelings for one another. However, the way the author connected everything from their current life to their previous lives made me enjoy this so much overall that I gave it a four star rating.
