I struggled to finish reading this book. It does not appear to have been professionally edited and is full of poorly constructed sentences, peculiar word choices, and stilted dialogue. There is no discernable story or plot other than the author's pontifications on the benefits of marrying a pliant, obedient woman.

The dialogue is nearly impossible to follow and mainly consists of pointless, rambling exchanges between talking heads.

Loneliness in the Pocket is a very difficult read. Just take a look at the book jacket summary and author biography and you can get a feel for the abysmal quality of writing that permeates the entire book. The author paints an unflattering picture of a sanctimonious, self-absorbed, self-pitying, misogynistic protagonist who lures an unsuspecting young woman into an abusive marriage, then has the arrogance to offer his tactics as marital advice.

For most of the book, the protagonist is described as on the prowl for a suitable female partner. The only requirement being someone that is “pure” yet willing to submit to his physical requirements without questions or reservations.

An odd combination of adult topics written in an adolescent manner, I could not recommend this book to anyone, as it contains no useful advice on marital harmony, and actually recommends treatment of women that is essentially abuse. This book is offensive in more ways than I can list here.

Loneliness in the Pocket (whatever that means!) is just plain awful. I have attempted to find some redeeming qualities, but, alas, I can find none. I found myself reading with a grimace of disgust on my face. Truly, one of the worst books I have ever read. In my opinion, a 1 out of 5 Star rating is generous.

Spoiler alert: The marital advice contained in this book is essentially to subject your wife to sexual relations every day, whether or not she consents. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

The book contains mild profanity and erotic references.
