The Legacy of Job's Wife by Cynthia Koelker is such an amazing story. It is about Ixises, who grew up with a boy named, Job, a close family friend, and how their families intertwine as the two grow. The families both have multiple ups and downs, but they are always there for each other. Job has a strong belief in God, and Ixises struggles with God's decisions in their lives. When Job moves on to further his career, Ixises worries that they may not be together forever, but their families always bring them back together. While Job and Ixises' lives turn upside down, Job remains steadfast to his beliefs, and Ixises needs time to turn back to God. They find that the more they do for others, they are rewarded. It is a beautiful love story that shows how strong bonds, faith in God, and a will to give back to your community can reward you.

This book was so enjoyable. I was interested from the start and wanted to keep turning pages. I always enjoy reading about strong women, especially from different cultures than my own. Ixises and Job have a hard life living in tents in a rural area, farming, and traveling on donkeys to markets far away. The role of women in this culture is so different than my upbringing, and I find it so interesting. Job is a wonderful character who always does right by God even when it is almost impossible to do. The draw between Ixixes and Job is really apparent and fun to follow.

I have to say that there wasn't much that I didn't like about this book. I relate to Ixises' insecurities and her questioning of her faith. My own family is a mix of strong believers and questioners. Job's committment to his God was a little more difficult for me to connect to, but it was so positive and good that I wanted to keep reading.

The rating that I give this book is a 4 out of 5 . I enjoyed every minute of it. I had tears for the bad times and smiles for the good times. I was excited to drive my kids to soccer practice so I could sit in the car and read! The story is well written and edited, very professionally communicated. The author described the characters so thoroughly that I could feel what they were feeling.

Recommending this book is easy for me. It feel that would appeal to women or men who have had a love or are looking forward to finding one. Faith and the connection with God is interesting to believers and nonbelievers. It's a great book for all ages.
