Yesterday: A Story of Reincarnation by Samyann is a novel that is a rollercoaster of emotions. From the first paragraph, the entire book is like a puzzle. Each chapter is a piece that slowly fits together to build a compelling story. You can only see the full view once you have finished the novel and all the pieces finally fall into place.

Amanda has been through a lot of trauma in her life. Right in the beginning, we learn that she has been seeing a therapist for grief counseling but has decided that she no longer wants to continue. Amanda states the therapist has missed a step in the 5 Stages of Grief, Resignation. The following day she is on her way to start her new job when an overhead train derails. In the heat of the panic of the area, Mounted Officer Mark is thrown from his horse and is unconscious. Amanda sees this and has to make a split-second decision, try to save this Officers' life or run to safety like the others before the train crashes onto the road below. This decision will start her down a rabbit hole, trying to discover the past, and how it is that she knows this officer to the roots of her soul.

Mark and Mary (Amandas' Godmother) try to help her as she regresses during Past Life Therapy sessions. Here is where the story of a little girl named Bonnie unfolds. Amanda believes Bonnie is her from a past life and sees the hardship and strife Bonnie goes through. Numerous times she believes she is doomed to only see death in life, losing everyone she loves. Constantly she tries to chase Mark away to save him from her, thinking loving her will only lead to death. But during these sessions, Amanda slowly gets closure and answers to her life she dearly needs. Allowing her to love again and see the joy that life holds. As Mark tells her, “What goes around comes around, sweetheart.” For Amanda, that statement holds so much truth. For her, the people in her life are never really gone forever.

During my first read-through of Yesterday I was completely sucked into the world the Author created. This novel has so many positive aspects that readers will get lost constantly wanting to know what happens next to Amanda. What's the next piece of the puzzle to unfold? The way Author Samyann wrote Yesterday with so many historical accuracies, there are times you are unsure if the book is fiction or non-fiction. In each chapter, you get more information to piece together Amanda's past as Bonnie and how it is that she and Mark feel they know each other. But it's done in a way that it doesn't feel rushed or like the information is just thrown at you. It guides you down the path of self-discovery for Amanda in a relatable and emotional way.

There is only one negative I have about this book. Towards the end, the chapters get more rushed and you can tell it is starting to wrap everything up. Not as smooth as the other 90 percent of the book. Partially wish the Author would have taken the same time in these chapters as she did in the others. But I do not feel it ruins the book or changes how captivating it is from start to finish.

I would rate Yesterday: A Novel of Reincarnation 4 out of 4 stars. I found it to be very well-edited and beautifully written. Even during dialogue moments in the South during the Civil War. I recommend this book to those who enjoy reading love stories or historical romances. Though there are references to sex, it is never explicit or goes into detail. I believe this is a story that many will love. I can not wait to see what the Author has coming out next.
