This is a revolutionary era with people accepting and coming forward with their gender and sexuality. With time, people are seen to get open minded towards these concepts. Larry G. Goldsmith’s Marc Marci is a beautiful story with beautiful characters and how the protagonist achieves happiness after facing various odds. It a wonderful depiction of Marc’s journey from being a depressed teenage boy having faced various tragedies to realizing how happy he would be as a woman.

Marc is a shy eighteen-year-old who lost his parents in an accident. He decides to visit Europe as an escape from the grief of having no one of his own. He befriends a couple of lesbians who were deeply in love with each other. Amidst enjoying the night life with his new friends whom he accompanied to London. An unexpected and sudden tragedy lead him to his greatest disclosure that he is happier as a female. This book shows his journey of self-discovery and achieving happiness and satisfaction after conquering all ups and downs.

There is nothing that I disliked about the story. There were little to no errors in the book. In fact, it is very inspiring as it portrays how important it is to happiness within yourself. Apart from the protagonist, I love his friends whom he met the trip to Europe. They brought such positivity and warmth to the story, and their concern for Marc and through his transformation reflected such heartfelt compassion,

I would give this book four out of four stars since it shows the struggles of being different and adjusting to the various society norms of being ‘normal’. The fact that some people actually go through such hardships while accepting themselves is so awful. We should accept people the way they are or the way they are most comfortable in. It is their choice and the best we can do is support them. I want to thank the author for bringing about such positivity and acceptance.
