Yesterday is a historical romance novel centred on reincarnation. Its author Samyann was born in Chicago and the love of its rich history contributed to the writing of this interesting novel.

In the novel Yesterday, Amanda Parker struggles to open up her heart again, after having done so several times, only to have it broken. She experiences heart break both in this life and a previous one. However, after meeting a Chicago policeman, her struggle is reversed to one of trying to keep her heart closed off from him. To make matters worse, she feels as if she had known him before they even met and for some reason, he has the same feeling. Will he be able to penetrate the walls she tries to put up against him? Will they be able to figure out why they feel as if they knew each other before they even met? Well, I suggest you read this thrilling novel to find out.

I found this novel to be very entertaining, interesting and captivating. It gave me a feeling of euphoria, seeing souls connect so strongly that their love transcends through different lifetimes. I enjoyed reading each chapter and eagerly anticipated what the author had in store in the next. I liked that the novel was very descriptive. For example, in crisis events the sounds and sights were described in such detail that I felt as if I was actually there experiencing it alongside the characters. I also liked the reincarnation aspect. It added to an interesting reading experience. In addition, I liked that the transitions between the characters’ current and previous lives were clearly indicated, so that there was no confusion.

The only aspect that I disliked about this romance novel was that the author wasn’t very detailed where the romance aspect of the book was concerned. For instance, intimate moments were described in general terms and not much details were given as one would expect from a romance novel.

I rate Yesterday 4 out of 4 stars. I found no errors in my reading. Therefore, I conclude that it was professionally edited. I think that it was well written and found it to be very romantic, interesting and overall, a great read. In addition, the parts of Chicago’s history that it contained seemed to have been properly researched and documented.

I would recommend this novel for adults who enjoys historically accurate novels with a tremendous love story component.
