This story is regarding a slave with special talents for playing the piano. She is quite gifted and has the ability to hear a song once and play it note for note on key which is called being in perfect pitch. The beginning of the book is heart-wrenching due to how she becomes a slave. It is a romantic yet heartbreaking story. To find true love, cherish it, have it taken away, to regain it, and thrive is something that all of us could use in life's situations.

I would like to point out that the history contained in the story appears to be very realistic as to the rumors that have been put out through history. I am glad to say that slavery has been abolished and we no longer live through these situations and horrific abuse that has been placed on individuals.

I am looking forward to reading the sequel because I felt like I was left hanging on a branch at the end of this book. I can imagine the story going in several different directions but I'm not sure which way the author is going to write it.

This book contains profanity, abuse, and has sexual content. I would not say that these things are a reason not to read the book because the story is so inspiring. The first mention of profanity is on page 7 and the first part about sexual conduct is on page 371 again I don't feel that these are reasons not to enjoy the story.

I would give this book a three out of four stars recommending it for young adults and older. Again I would like to say that I am waiting for the sequel to come out because I really want to know where the story goes in the author's mind.
