Yesterday by Samyann is a reincarnation love story that follows the main characters Amanda and Mark. When Mark and Amanda meet, they have an instant connection and cannot shake the feeling that they know each other. However, they do not know how that is possible since they have never met. Mark is a confident and adorably arrogant young man who immediately recognizes Amanda as his soulmate. Amanda however struggles to accept that truth and must come to terms with past pains and emotional traumas not only in this life but in her previous. With the help of her nurturing Aunt, Amanda is able to visit her past lives through a form of hypnosis to discover how her and Mark are connected, if they truly are soulmates or if she is destined for heartache.

This book is a well written book that is easy to follow even though the storyline is often propelled back in time. The theory of hypnosis and past lives have some sense of organization in a theory that could easily get tied up and have loose ends. The characters themselves were very interesting and their romance was a sweet one that the reader can easily enjoy.

My main drawback with Yesterday is that once I was done reading, I was left completely unsatisfied. The book takes a while to get going but then as the story continues it feels as if the author begins skipping important storylines to quickly finish the novel. From the readers perspective I wanted to get to know the love story of Mark and Amanda not only in their present time but in their past lives as well. We do get a glimpse of their love story and the author builds excitement by continuing to have the reader guess who Mark is supposed to be in Amanda’s past life. It ends up being someone that the reader barely knows which was a major cause of disappointment for me.

The book is well written but due to the unsatisfactory feeling I had after reading, I can only give it a 2 out of 4 stars. I felt that the book started off on a high note and ended with disappointment.

I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historic fiction, fiction, romance, and time travel. While I did not rate it high on my list of favorite books, it is still a book with quality writing and worth reading.
