[Following is a volunteer review of "The Raven's Trail (Book 1)" by Liz D. Marx.]
[rwc=id480606-125]3 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]The novel is a classic blend of American history, mystical occurrences, affection and whimsical adventure in which two individuals are united by destiny. The female lead, Chloe comes across a native relic at her office and a vague memory crosses her mind, it was the same as the one she saw in her dreams and the fact that it lit up whenever she touched it made her more curious. So, yearning for knowing everything she puts two and two together and decides to find answers. Bounded by inevitable fate, she bumps into Mason who helps her find answers and perceives that Chloe could lead to his freedom from his puzzling past. Mason and Chloe go through affectionate glances, fall head over heels for each other, and further realizing their past history and connections, they go through a lot. There is fierce narrative, adventure, comprehension, sentiments yet everything is unreally magical.
The Raven’s Trail is a perfect blend of history, adventure and romance. Liz D. Marx has written it in a subtle yet engaging manner, where a person is constantly keen on knowing what happens next, the mystery really holds you and the pace at which every mystery unfolds is amazing. The backstory of all characters has been portrayed in a very good way. The writer has done a really good job with American history and culture, despite of a lot of ancient words and sequences, it is easily understandable to the reader, each ancient part has been explained in a very uncomplicated way. Every past sequence makes you believe it truly happened and it was all real. There are action scenes or brutal scenes but all of them have been described in an efficient manner. The affection between the main characters has also been written in a very simple yet magical way, there is nothing obnoxious about it. Every part of the book has been described perfectly and with every chapter the story falls into place and makes more sense.
The book was overall very good but the series of things that happened were kind of expected, not exactly cliché but a bit obvious.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because I could make out many grammatical errors in the book.
This book is recommended for readers who enjoy reading fiction novels including historical events with a mixture of present time sequences, subtle romance, mystery, enmity, supernatural adventures and occult fiction.
