In the book Heat: Heartaches 2 by H M Irwing, shows a couple, Anna and Rafe, who are madly in love with each other. The book follows their story of being in a military college and the challenges that are faced within their relationship and past history. The challenges these two face are something no college student should ever have to face, but shows how love can make it through all. There are many life lessons that Anna learns throughout her struggles from her past in this endearing romance novel.

Reading this book will keep you on the edge of your seat as you follow this couple with their unique and compelling plot. It is a good read if you want to get away from the cliché love stories and you don’t want to know what will happen in the end. I was never able to expect what was going to happen and at times my jaw was dropping due to all the unpredictable challenges Anna and Rafe face. The Heat is a great book to keep you on your toes and wanting more.

I didn’t enjoy how you had to read the first book in the series to completely understand the background in the book. With that said I was confused in the beginning of the book until I was able to get some hints as I continued to read. Not reading the first book in the series I was still able to follow along and enjoy the book, but it was definitely irritating to have to guess why things were a certain way. It also took the book a while to get moving. I was bored in the beginning because I did not understand what was happening and there is not much going on, so it took me awhile to be hooked.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The reason why I give it a three even though it had my jaw dropping, there were a few grammatical errors throughout the book. Not only did I give it three stars because of the grammatical errors, but because you need to read the first book in the series to completely understand the plot and what is going on in the book. Despite the grammatical errors and the irritating issue of reading the first book first, this book was an interesting read and I never wanted to put it down.

I believe this book would most likely appeal to young adults, but adults would also enjoy this book. In order for you to be fond of this book you need to be a fan of love stories that is more than the cliché stories. Be ready for jaw dropping moments and an unexpected read as the author adds twists to keep you on the edge. I would not recommend this book to someone who is triggered by sexual assault and rape because the book does describe the effects of these issues. There needs to be a trigger waring about sexual assault and rape as the book does address these issues multiple times.
