Review by Kuilawrence083 -- The Raven's Trail (Book 1)
The Raven-Trail-book-1 by LIZ D MARX is a story consisting of two lifetimes, the previous and current lives of its characters. The novel narrates a love story that is met by challenges in between and how courageously they faced them. Chloe and Mason are the main characters of the raven trail book.
Have you ever wondered, or felt like you have lived other lives, or when performing a new task you get a ‘Déjà vu’ feeling, a feeling that you have performed that task before?. Well, LIZ D exquisitely plotted a story about a girl named Chloe who was brought up in a society, which to me seemed to be patriarch society since it defined what a woman can do and what she cannot do, for example, she was denied to be the spiritual leader of their tribe just because she was a woman and her role was to get married and bear new generation despite her being so talented, and society even dared to choose men who would marry them, it made her sad but she also had a gut feeling that she was built for more because she could feel power flowing through her veins, it felt real and like it belonged to her and it was crying out loud for Chloe to explore it.
Chloe was in love with her best friend Mason, also known as prince Kaye in his previous life despite their age differences. The story-line is quite interesting as it is based on historical facts about how white men conquered Native Americans, took their land and even changed their habits. In their current lives, they are faced with challenges of remembering who they are, regrets of their previous lives, and keeping up their hopes alive that someday they will save their souls and finf a link to unite with their ancestors. Will they?
I grew fond of mason and his best friend Foster, I loved their friendship and the depth of their relationship is felt in their conversation which turned out to be very hilarious and I didn’t want the dialogue t end. I did also love the romance between Chloe and her beloved Mason especially how they deeply cared for each other even when they had reasons to hate each other for example, Chloe also known as Adsila in her previous life was angry with Mason for what he had done in his previous life, they knew they had something greater in each and needed to remember who they were to actualize their desires. The author uses a humorous ride of how the two met again in their current reincarnation, what bought them together and how their friends helped them to reach the end goal. I gained an inner understanding of the saying that states together we're strong, divided we are weak.
Liz d did an amazing job with the development of characters; she had a way of capturing my attention either by extreme emotions or the level of suspense that got me glued to the book until the end. Some scenes got me laughing out loud, some made me find my breath and others got me crying. I deeply connected with the development of the story-line and the emotions that were involved.
At beginning of the story, it somehow confused me because the names of characters kept changing as the authors used their previous and current names as the story developed and I found myself asking who is who but later I got to know their names, and that allowed time to enjoy the exquisite journey that the novel holds. I enjoyed bits of wisdom that the author shared with readers that resonated with me, for instance, she said that “if you keep telling yourself you can’t eventually that would be true”
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys love tales inspirational reading and a well imaginative written story. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, this is because the book is perfectly edited and it was an enjoyable read.
