This story is about Catherine Little and her family. It primarily focuses on Catherine. She meets Sadiq at a party on New Year's Eve. These two are instantly attracted to each other. From this one night, the whole course of their lives is changed.

Catherine also realizes she didn't know Sadiq, and they are completely different. They come from different cultures, lifestyles, and languages.

Sadiq tries to tame Catherine and possess him. He wants to conform her to his culture, and the way he does things. Catherine is very headstrong and independent. She has her own set of dreams, and doesn't want to be tied down traditionally the Sadiq wants her to. The two clash over this, and have to work out their differences.

I would give Sugar & Spice by H. M Irwing 4 stars out of 4 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read. I feel like anyone would like this book but it is a modern-day romance story. If you like to read romance this is the book for you.

The story is captivating. I found myself staying up late and reading on my lunch break just to finish. I didn’t want to put it down. This is the type of book you can sit down and read and not do anything else until it's down.

I liked Catherine Little. I like that she is independent, headstrong, and very intelligent. I like that this book told about the Little family. I like getting to know Catherine’s siblings. I liked how protective Lucy was as well as stable.

I disliked the most when he kidnapped Cat and made her marry him. I hated that he was forcing her to marry him. He knew she didn't want to be married. She didn't want to be possessed and he wanted to possess her. I hated that he didn't tell her that he was marrying another wife as well that day. Multiple wives are acceptable in his culture but not in hers. He changed her name and made her conform to his religion without her consent. It was very selfish of him.

The part I liked the best about Sugar & Spice was the scene at the end. It showed the Little household with all its craziness, including the two men that lived there, as well Catherine was able to med school like she always dreamed. I like a good happy ending. I liked that Catherine and Sadiq were able to find a way to compromise.
