Geraldine by Edmund M Aristone is a romantic story, of Geraldine and Tom McCoy. It is a fast-paced story with 164 pages consisting of 16 chapters.

Tom McCoy is a suspended medical surgeon and is currently tending bars for his livelihood. He is portrayed as an alcoholic and leading an aimless life. The story starts with Tom breaking up his then-girlfriend Paula. As they part ways, Tom is introduced to Geraldine, He immediately gets attracted to her and soon they start a relationship.

Geraldine is a 22-year-old artist. She is beautiful, intelligent and has a successful career ahead but unfortunately, she is dealing with bipolar disorder, similar to her mother which ended with a suicide. She fears her illness. Will she survive her illness? Will Tom save her love interest? We will find out the answers in the rest of the tale.

Tom as a character I liked the most, his undying determination to support and help Geraldine throughout the story was impressive. Tom's growth is visible, the change of his behaviour as an alcoholic to a loving gentleman.

The writing is too practical for a romance genre. There is more of telling a story rather than showing. There is no connection build-up between a reader and the characters. Also, the blurb promised a tale of a girl struggling with bipolar issues, but the result is not similar. The book is not about Geraldine, It focuses more on Tom, his life and how he supports Geraldine during tragedies of life.

The story is a fast and easy read, but the characters don't get a proper introduction. We only get a glimpse of Tom and Geraldine's romance. There was little information given on mental illness. Many characters are being introduced into the story Sally, Marsha and Virginia but they were an addition to the downfall. This story had a lot of potentials, but the book couldn't deliver it.

I give this book 2 out of 4 stars. This book contained so many errors, typos and grammar mistakes. It did hinder and made the reading process difficult. There were some swearing and a bit of profanity. No erotic scenes.

The reason behind a low rating is it didn't deliver a profound impact on me. I didn't feel any emotions or feelings. I wish I could take anything from this book, moral or information about mental illness but I got nothing. In my opinion, Not every book is made for everyone so, I would recommend this book to the reader who likes the romance genre or wants to read an easy and fast read. Also, this book deal with subjects like abortion, suicide, murder and mental illness so this book is not for readers who might get triggered.
