Stella Knights focuses on the struggles and strains of marriage, and how Savannah takes many measures to save what, in the end, couldn't be saved. Unhappy with her repetitive life and Johnny and Savannah losing their spark, Savannah makes an effort to re-light their flame. However their spontaneous trip to Thailand brings about unexpected desires within the couple, with new flavors to encounter from their untasteful lives of Australia. Knights leaves us with questions that need satisfaction and urge to to continue with the book. How far is too far when trying to take things to the next level?
The ventures they took to Thailand and the emotional rollercoaster Stella Knights brought me on was worth the read. She binds us to 'Savannah' and forces us to sympathize for her. Her character's, although fictional, display so much truth behind them, bringing forth problems of which many people are facing, making her such a relatable character. The friendship displayed between Savannah and Pam, exhibits so much trust, for them to be able to express the things they did to each other. Knights exposes the importance of relationships and having someone who is the to help and guide you through the problems you may be facing. She gives subtle lessons which do truly mean a lot. She sets out the fact that sometimes things don't go the way you expected and you need to realize that there are things you need to let go in order to get what you've always wanted. She left me at a cross road of what the problem really was, and that was the best part of the whole book. Trying to solve whether the problem was not maintaining romance throughout their marriage or if they just got too comfortable with each other.
She set clear establishments with her character's and how she wanted them portrayed. The conflicts of personalities show that maybe the problem in their marriage wasn't lack of romance in the first place, but probably lack of expression in their needs. Savannah continued to make sacrifices and Johnny kept taking. Knights presents little glimpses of Savannah's past personality and showed how much she had really changed. In the end, you can only suppress so much before you explode. Personally, in the end it wasn't romance, or lack of, that caused problems in their relationship but the opportunity for Savannah to revert to her old self is what Johnny was not accepting of.
Overall, I would rate Lost and Love: Thailand a 3 out of 4 because Knights did an impressive job in achieving all the necessary heights in order for the book to grab me at the needed points. The reason for not rating the book a 4 out of 4, is that at some points near the beginning, the book was slightly predictable, having been a fan of Romance books, you find there are general pathways they take.
The predictability would have set the book at a 2, however, Knights was able to exceed the rating of 2 , with the amazing ending. The effect of being led on to believe that everything happened in an order was what made the end of her book such a shock. The subtle but necessary hints given throughout the book made the ending so much better when you finally realize that they all linked together.
