The book “Who Told You That You Were Naked? A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden” will take you to a visit to the Garden of Eden to analyze how sin first existed in the world through Adam. It will give an in-depth examination of what really happened in the third chapter of the Old Testament of the Bible in the Book of Genesis. This book will also tackle the power of faith and how it was exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Retired Presbyterian minister, William E. Combs has created a good non-fiction Christian book that will give its readers a better understanding and knowledge about sin, faith and salvation. This will shows a persuasive evaluation of the Bible which has actually remodeled the past beliefs that I had.

Reverend William E. Combs gives answers to common questions that people have regarding the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible. Most of the time, the questions are those that affect someone’s faith and beliefs. He has explained that things stated in the Bible are somewhat symbolic and interpretative. For example, when Adam and Eve ate the apple, they suddenly felt embarrassed realizing that they are naked. Nakedness is actually described by the author as the spiritual stubbornness that led to how sin existed.

What I liked in this book is that its analysis and investigations have scriptural back-ups. Also, the explanations are easy to understand and will surely make you think twice about your faith and spiritual beliefs. If you would simply rely on the title of the book, readers would think that this will just contradict what the Bible says. But no, the book merely provides an in-depth and better perception about the Bible making one realize a lot of things about their faith. I have enjoyed how Reverend Combs exemplified his thoughts and ideas into something more realistic that people will easily understand. However, it is better if he could have stated where his topics were from, whether it is from the new testament or old testament. This could have easily provided its readers an easier guide on what the book is saying.

I definitely recommend “Who Told You That You Were Naked” to Christians who are matured and sure enough of their faith and beliefs. This should also be helpful for people who are still in the process of molding their spiritual beliefs as it can give them a personal encounter about the Bible. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it does not merely relies on the author’s beliefs and understanding. It is also backed up by scriptures that will prove the ideas stated in the book. It is well researched and properly edited making it a very good read that everyone can enjoy.
