A brief review on the book ‘’Who told you that you were naked’? A refreshing re-examination of the Garden of Eden by William E. Combs.

What I liked least about the book is the author’s careful description and explanation of the key facts from the creation story and the entry of ‘good and evil’ and ‘sin’ consequently as explained, and God’s perspective versus Man’s observation and how redemption came and the need for man to walk on the path of truth. "I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars." because it is explicit and a guide to a closer relationship with God. And I recommend it to every Christian and those who want to have a personal encounter with God.

From the opening illustration, we see Adam’s innocence in the garden with other animals and craved for a companion. God then took him to an already prepared garden, East of Eden and instructed him to take charge and to tend it but Adam did not comprehend the ramification of good and evil then (Pg. 5). God later on caused a deep sleep to come on him and from his ribs created a woman to be his help meet. The woman being deceived by the serpent ate the fruit and since she didn’t literally die, convinced her husband to, and immediately both came to the realization that they were naked, covered themselves with fig leaves and hid from the presence of God. After God’s disposition on their disobedience and blame game, God punished them and put enmity between them and their seed which later played out in the event of Cain slaying Abel described as ‘’Sin crouching at the door’’. In re-examining Eden, The author stressed that our Faith is always tested, Adam’s choice made us all slaves to sin but it also revealed the enormous magnitude of God’s grace in redeeming us through Faith from the finished work of Jesus Christ as He took man’s place in form of sin as a propitiation by His blood for our redemption for us to be Born again of having a new relationship and walk with God.

In walking this way, the Bible illuminates our Spiritual paths by revealing a person with whom we can identify, bolstering our relationship with God. God assist our walk with Him through His Word, His voice and His peace while we must bear in mind that it comes with a price of suffering as the case maybe, knowing that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but the originator of these is Satan and all we have to do is resist him, be firm in faith, knowing that same kind of sufferings are similar to other Christian’s worldwide. Therefore, in our pursuit of the truth, we should endeavour to handle the Word of God with caution, comparing translations with original texts, Exegesis versus Eisegesis through in-depth study.
