In a world filled with obscene brazen conducts, Violence, Hostility, Strife, Dissensions and high rate of sexual immorality, The Book Who Told You That You Were Naked? By William E. Combs, A retired Presbyterian minister and a Boeing senior computing system Architect, leads the Reader of this intriguing book back to the unfolding scenes of creation where Mankind because of the perilous art of sin lost their worth, dignity and favor. This book is the perfect book to adopt as a Food for thought. The writer being a Pastor is so passionate about the Gospel and this passion is plainly seen by the way he breaks down into sections by sections the events that took place in the Garden of Eden, which help the reader to understand the significance of this story.
This story is a very well-written discussion of God’s grace and His plan for saving us from our sinful nature. First, the Writer started by referring to the book of Genesis concerning how God created everything to be good and the first creation of man which is Adam. Adam was later dismissed from the garden of Eden after he disobeyed God by eating from the “Tree of knowledge of good and evil” which God carefully warned them not to eat. Which was the first sin committed by man that sprouted out of disobedience to God and greediness. The Author mentioned how Cain killed his brother Abel, out of the same sin that has now resided in man like an incurable disease. Thereafter sin began to circumnavigate into all of mankind.
I love the way the Author did not left out the fact that God re-established our relationship with him through Jesus, and to walk in the way of faith and follow him, as he terminates sin forever. He added that the most important step towards this reconciliation is to be born again not in the physical but in the spirit.
Since this book falls in the Religion and spiritual Genre, it is really best suitable for those who have deep interest about religion and how to increase their Godly knowledge and build their faith, as well it might also be interesting to those who love learning about History, because the Writer took the Readers back to what happened a distant time ago.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because not all authors can boldly confront the world with what they believe in, and the strong faith they have in God, I love the Author’s way of expressing himself and his use of words and I noticed that the book has been thoroughly proofread and edited as I found no major errors all through my reading, There are also discussion questions at the end of each chapter which can be helpful for study, these questions are really helpful as it serves as great reminders of what we have read so far. I really enjoyed it and I hope to find more books from William E. Combs.
