WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED? A Refreshing Reexamination of the Garden of Eden by William E. Combs

Who told you that you were naked? It's the first question God asked Adam and Eve in the Bible. This book answers the question, "How is this relevant to me today?" The author discusses the war of good and evil inside each of us, what faith is, what God requires of us, what it means to rest in God, the benefits of believing in Him and the consequences of not believing in Him.

Adam and Eve is the oldest story in the world so I didn't think I'd learn anything new but the book made me consider details I hadn't thought of before. The author is a little creative with details left out of the original story while incorporating other parts of the Bible. This helped me see the story in a new way without changing anything about the main gospel message.

I appreciated the personal stories related to the content sprinkled throughout. I also liked the way the author tells how to be a Christian as a lifestyle. I can't remember ever reading a book describing it as thoroughly as he does. Many times he includes why as well, backing it up with Bible verses and the author delves into biblical word meanings occasionally. At the end of each chapter are questions requiring serious thought even if the reader is very familiar with the story. To me, it's not just another Christian book. There is a lot to like about it and I agree with most of what he says.

This well-written book would appeal to Christians who want to give more thought to the story of Adam and Eve, how it relates to the Bible as a whole and what it means to us today. I rated it 3 out of 4 stars because it would be a good Bible study book. Many people would enjoy the personal stories and the way the author gives a 'how to do Christianity.'

What I didn't like were the couple of times the author gave too much information which left me wondering what I should be focusing on but I would have liked more information in the chapter on spiritual warfare. Also, the book uses pretty big words often enough that I was turned off by it. Stopping to look up a word more than a few times can cause me to lose focus.

The book is edited well. I read an ebook version and only noticed one error. In the endnotes, the word trails is used instead of trials.
