Roadmap to the End of Days by Daniel Friedman
In this book, Daniel Friedman tries to find parallels between religious stories and current events. Mainly based of the Torah, he tries to predict when the end of days will come and how we can prepare from them. The book is divided into chapters, each with a focus on a subject pertaining to the overall theme. It starts off talking about why we are here and what are purpose is. Then it moves on to recent and current events that have relationships with past events. It talks about how the “end off days” have had many chances to happen, each with a series of events that repeats, a pattern. Then it shows how we are in the final period and that the end of days will happen within the next 150 years.
It also shows the importance of certain numbers like 3, 6, 7, 5, and 10. It talks about the importance of Adam in the garden, and what he and Eve did changed the course of the world. Each one of Adams days in the garden corresponds to the end of days and the “prepatory period” that comes before. It even gives you a timeline for when certain events will play out.
This book, and how much you like it, entirely depends on your point of view. It does give you fair warning, so don’t read it if you don’t like a lot of speculating. It is mostly basted of the Torah, and has views associated with that. If you don’t use the Torah and don’t have the views associated with that, it will probably in some way go against what you believe. That is totally fine, and it is still interesting to see what the author’s (Daniel Friedman) take on the world is. It does have some interesting facts that support several theories. In the end, liking this book really just depends on your perspective.
Personally, at times this book was a little disinteresting. Though, at other times it was interesting. The evidence was backed up very well if you believe in all the author does. For example: if you are a Christian you may relate to some of the conclusions, but you may not with some others. It all depends on your perspective.
So what rating does this review deserve? I give it a 2 out of 4 stars. It was a very well edited book, but at times was written confusingly. To some people it may be very interesting, but to others it may be a tedious read. It is a professional book, but as I have stated before, it only appeals to people who have interest in that kind of subject.
