HEALTH TIPS, MYTHS, AND TRICKS BY Morton E. Tavel, MD

Health tips, myths and tricks is a book written by Dr Morton E. Tavel amongst other books like 'Snake Oil is Alive and Well' and 'Hell in the Heavens'. Dr Tavel who used to be physician specialist in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases at the Indiana University School of Medicine and past president of the local and Indiana state divisions of the American Heart Association, published Health tips, myths and tricks in 2015 to tackle the various health, nutritional and lifestyle issues of the modern world, giving answers to myths and laying down some tips to you live a healthy life.

The fact that this book is group into three main topics namely: Tips, Myths and tricks, and each chapter is concise and factual makes this book easily accessible. Dr Tavel went extra miles in breaking the main topics into different chapters contains different fragment of important topics that talks about our health, nutrition and lifestyles. And in my own words, I will like to say this books a whole 62 chapter of topics teaching one to successfully live a healthy life (including the appropriate sleep time moderately healthy for different age groups). Why do I know this? This is one the most researched based book I have read. Every single topics start with previous researches done on them then come the scholastic opinion from Dr Tavel.

Each topic in this book can be read independently and the information you seek will still be passed across.Starting from how to properly lose weight to chiropractic treatment, this book have got you covered (thanks to this book, I now know most so-called medicine for cold are just a waste of money). This book should be one of your reference book of food health, nutrition and lifestyle, which you can just go through when you doubt the nutrient labels of food product, fitness myths and other modern day lifestyle challenges. This book is well contained.

Also, this book tries as much as possible to relate to our daily life, by giving examples of the things we do and consume on a daily basis. I was extremely surprised when ice cream was mentioned as part of foods to do away with because of the saturated fat and high amount of sugar it contained ('Ice cream is no bargain' he said). This book is a shocker that open our mind to the do's and don'ts of our daily life.

Being denied of the truth is one thing, being exposed to the truth is another. Other than it straight forwardness, the topics in this books contains facts, evidence and proof to back up any hypothesis. Dr Tavel didn't come out of the dark and start to write like we see today. The book is an embodiment of progressive amount of research works put together for public consumption and this is what our world need, A book that can be trusted.

In all, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars and recommend that everyone keep this book at arms length for easy reference and cross checks. It is a good gift to anybody you love and want them to live healthy and wise.
