JV Thomas’s Museum Worthy is a brilliant guide for re-entering the dating pool.

Divorce or separation can hit anyone. Sometimes when it is least expected. It doesn’t have to be the end of the world, though. When one relationship ends, another can begin. Dating again after a separation can be challenging. This is especially true for those who have been in a long-term relationship since they were in their teens or 20s, and now find themselves in a very different market. Where meeting people used to be organic and driven by chance, it is now driven by online dating profiles and perfect photographs. This book provides a succinct outline for immersing yourself into this challenging world.

I can relate to this book very well. I was in a 10-year marriage (with 1 year of dating and 1 year engaged prior) when he decided he wanted something different from life. I had never dreamed of re-entering the dating pool in my 30s. I had anticipated that being the time when life was settling down. Many of the concepts in this book would have been very helpful at that time. It focuses on looking at your desires for a potential partner. These include what you want, but are negotiable, and those things that would eliminate a person as a life partner. There is also an emphasis on looking at yourself and what makes you desirable as a partner. The final sections of the book discuss ways to make an online dating profile more appealing, and what to avoid to get the dreaded swipe. The author’s sense of humor shines throughout the book as well, which made it very fun to read.

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The book contains a wealth of valuable information and practical advice. It is broken down into easy-to-follow chapters that provide waypoints that would be easy to refer back to. However, I found the formatting somewhat difficult to follow. Each chapter is divided into sections, and headings for each section are provided; however, they are not clearly indicated on the page. It would have been better to have the headings in bold, a different font size, or underlined. There was also a plethora of commas. The author did mention this was a stylistic choice, but it was quite distracting for me. For these reasons, I deducted one star. Otherwise, it is a great guide for anyone who is looking to put themselves out there to find their long-term life partner.

It is good to read that the concepts the author presents are actually very helpful and would be of immense assistance to those who are re-entering the dating world. I am also glad that the author employed humor in the book richly; thanks for the review, @Amanda Collier.
