The Advent of Time: A Solution to the Problem of Evil Based on The Prerequisite of Love and an Analysis of Timeless Being by Indignus Servus is a thought-provoking analysis of the presence of evil despite an all-loving God. It is rooted in the Catholic Catechism, which provides the foundation of his argument. Previously, many have tried to explain why an all-loving God would allow such evil in the world. Servus postulates that those who attempt explanation within the confines of a finite time frame are missing a key point, assuming God operates on man’s linear timeline. Scientists may postulate if God is all-loving, then why is there suffering? Using a theological argument, Servus is able to logically explain this phenomenon without defying the rules of physics.

The question of an all-loving God casting such misery on humans is one that many of us wrestle with. We ask ourselves why God would allow innocents to be tortured. For example, how a baby, absent of evil intentions, can be murdered in the presence of God, who we believe to be a loving one. If one considers the Garden of Eden and fallen man, one will understand that God does not allow murder; man does because he has been provided with free will. Because Adam defied God, the existence of linear time, suffering, and death originated. Believers will return to infinite time, in unison with God, who created us out of love, which is the purpose of life. Servus' logic resonates with me.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It contained no grammatical errors. It was an interesting read, logical and well thought out. The organization and flow of the book are excellent. Reasoning is on an academic level, written in a manner utilizing vocabulary and syntax that anyone can read comfortably. Readers of all denominations will be fascinated by the book. The loss of one star is because the argument might have been made more succinctly. Servus does provide extensive resources at the conclusion of the book.
