The author Obernuefemann’s explains the modern disciple accurately and with helping the reader explore what it means to he a modern-day disciple. They lead you through short daily readings to pull you into the book without overloading you. The thirty minute day sections allow the working disciple to set aside time each day to read and reflet on what the book has laid out for learning, This is a good book for both the new Christian and the seasoned one as well.

The main point in the book is how to live spiritually every day in a world that doesn’t. It leads the reader into how to be a disciple in the secular world that we live in. Teaching that one must have a spiritual connection the Jesus and be active in how we shine our light in the world. Showing how we are to follow in His footsteps to reach a society that doesn’t even know they need him at times.
This book is well laid out in short sections that gives the reader the ability to read and reflect on each section. I enjoyed the way she uses stories along with the biblical explanation. As a pastor I believe it is important to use stories to explain scripture showing how they relate to our everyday situations. This allows us to grow as MD;s as the author calls the Modern Disciple.

I enjoyed reading this book, it gave me some insights and point to carry into my life. Overall, I would give Modern Disciples of Jesus Christ a four out of five only because it is vague in some areas. One of the area’s is the real world, the book doesn’t really explore how to deal with situations in the real world, such as family dynamic, our working life, politics and death. These are areas the book could have dug a little deeper in.
