"Who told you that you are naked?" Is a book that attempts to explain the life and the relationship between Adam and God. The book begins like a church sermon and later turns into a lecture where the lecturer argues and explains his points to ensure his students understand everything he has taught them.
The author attempts to explain Why in the garden of Aden, Adam did not commit any sin and therefore, we humans do not Inherit any sins from Adam. What happened to him after eating the forbidden fruit is that he gained the knowledge of good and evil. He could henceforth differentiate right from wrong. It is this knowledge that we now inherit from him.
According to the author, Adam and eve did not commit a sin since they didn't have the knowledge of good and evil Before they ate the forbidden fruit. By eating the forbidden fruit, Adam and eve had just been misled into taking a path in their lives that would lead them and their offsprings to death. Therefore we should not think that death is a punishment to Adam for eating that fruit.
The auther, further explains that the kind of death that resulted from adam's trangression is spiritual and not the physical death we know of.
What i like about this book Is the author's ability to interpret and explain the meaning of sin, the origin and causes of sin. Eating the fruit was not a sin but sin would happen after the knowledge of good and evil was gained.
He however fails to explain the cause of physical death. Did Adam die twice then, the spiritual and the physical deaths? Or was physical death already in Gods plan for mankind.
I mostly liked the way the author uses the bible to explain the bible.
Though the author is able to explain Adam's misstep and the resultant consequences, he does not explain what would have happened to Adam and eve had they not eaten the forbidden fruit. Would they have lived forever without Having to face both the physical and the spiritual deaths? Or was physical death still a part of Gods plan right from the beginning. Or did the author avoid that issue because he too doesn't know?
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. the reason for this rating is that I found it captivating and quite thought challenging. Once you open the first page, you won't want to stop until you find the truth.
This book will really appeal to most christian readers. Whether or not they have read genesis again and again they will find this new book a very useful revelation.
