This is a great book for a first-time cat owner. The structure of the book makes it very easy to follow and understand. It began with the history of domesticating cats, and then it flowed into all the steps on raising your pet. The author uses a lot of practical advice on pet cats as they have the experience from raising their own three cats.

As you navigate the mysterious actions of your cat you will understand that you are sometimes similar to your pet. You both can experience mental health problems, frequent doctor visits, and stress while moving into a new home.

I was disappointed that the author did not include pictures of their own pets. I looked at the image references, and they are all from online sources that are not from the author.

The book will suggest spaying and neutering your pet. This book does not have any information on taking care of a pregnant cat. There can also be a random chance that you will find a pregnant neighborhood cat. I know that my pets have attracted other cats while they play on the patio. This book does not educate people on how to handle a stray cat situation.

An improvement that could be made is to add toxoplasmosis to the litter box chapter. Toxoplasmosis is very important for the reader's health, especially during pregnancy. The author makes up for missing this information by giving the reader a life-changing tip. I will now always check my refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven for any cats that could be stuck.

I would give this book three stars out of five. This will be a very helpful book for the first-time cat owners. This book might not be useful for an experienced cat owner.
