“WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED…?
A refreshing reexamination of the Garden of Eden”
By: William E. Combs.

This book written by William E. Combs is written solely off of the perspective of one man and how he imagined the story of the Garden of Eden might have been, he reasons the many incidents popularly known in bible stories, like the meaning of Eve, Adam, the apple, and the snake. He depicted this common tale as many before him have, spun it to be in accordance with their own will and justification.

It gives a step by step analysis of each occurrence and the motives (seemingly) behind them. He backs up his beliefs with various bible verses which do in fact coincide with his basic explanation of it all.
Beginning in the Garden, naturally and ending with in depth questioning of the meaning and actuality of the word ‘Faith’.

‘Who told you that you were naked?’ the book expresses guilt and shame and resentment. In contrast it speaks of the undying, undeniable Love of God and his ideas on how to understand this contrast by revisiting the Garden of Eden which is where it all began.

I really enjoyed the very beginning of the book, the prologue. I love the way he wrote of his child hood and how he briefly got me to understand what it was like for him growing up.
The mention of the aurora borealis ( as an expression of how wonderful God is), most popularly known as the Northern Lights in comparison to a flashlight I thought was done well. A great way to open up a book that will further tell of comparison and interpretations of occurrences way back before I even dreamt of existence in this life.

It also comprises of study guide questions and is actually well put together so therefore, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. After reading it I thought it didn’t really say much to me and would possibly be a lot more interesting to many who have questions about that the beginning of time according to the bible or for those who simply like to hear the opinions of another to make comparisons in beliefs, there is always some truth to everyone’s belief and a good reasoning and breakdown (like this author did) creates an open space for grand discussions. So by all means grab a copy and give it a read.
