The book Who Told You That You Were Naked? by William E. Combs is a new look on the fall of sin and an in-depth look into the lives of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It touches on topics like faith, anxiety, and worry. It sheds a new light on being saved and how to know if God is talking to us. How does a believer find rest? This story explains it all very well.

The book starts out with just Adam in the Garden of Eden and what life was like for him, and then into how/why Eve was created, and continues into what life was like for Adam and Eve together in the Garden of Eden. It gives a whole new look into why Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and how Adam followed suit. The writer tells in the story in a much more modern style which really helps bring the story to life. The modern feeling of the story helps it all register into your mind as if you were actually there in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. There are tons of small added details to the storyline that really bring the story to life and make it much easier to follow.

At the end of each chapter, the writer has included study questions. I really liked this feature of the book because it helps ensure you get a much deeper understanding of what you are reading. Some of the questions you really needed to think about for awhile and some you needed to go back and look through that chapter again. It really made it more worth reading. I feel the study questions make this book a great option, not only for everyday Christians looking to deepen their faith and understanding but for church groups and bible studies. I think the study questions would create some great group conversations.

My favorite parts of the book were the conversation between Adam and Eve when they were discussing Eve eating the apple and what happened with the serpent. It seemed like an everyday conversation between a husband and wife nowadays. It was written in a way that made the whole situation and conversation more relatable. My other favorite part of the book was when it brought up the topic of why Eve didn't notice any difference in herself or her surroundings after eating the apple. It wasn't until Adam also took a bite that they began to notice any change. It explains why with examples everyone could understand and relate to. I never even took the time to think about that before I read this book, which was definitely a big plus to me.

I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I wouldn't give it 3 stars, because of all the added little details that gave the story more life and the extra step the author took with adding all the study questions. I wouldn't give it 5 stars only because it seemed to end too soon. It seemed like the last chapter was missing information. It just could use a much better closing chapter. Another reason I give it 4 stars is that after the last chapter it recovers main points of each chapter in the Endnotes. It states on the cover that this book is a refreshing re-examination of the Garden of Eden, and I think refreshing is a very well chosen word for this book. It brings a sense of refreshment to your mind and your soul. I would definitely recommend this book to a lot of people. Everyone who has any interest in learning about the bible would enjoy getting this new glimpse into the lives of Adam and Eve. I am glad I read it.
