"The Ultimate Guide To Zombies"
By Dave Robertson
The book takes you through history and how zombies changed over time. Zombies took over general pop culture in the form of music, books, video games, movies, and television. Reports of zombies first surfaced in Haiti in the 1900's. Black magic and voodoo were used some still believe that voodoo still exists. It's believed by many in Haiti that a voodoo sorcerer, known as a bokor, he digs bodies up after they were buried, he revives them using black magic. A zombie is a person who appears to act, walk and move in a manner like that of a normal person. The law is too afraid to get involved; they don't want the voodoo priest or priestess, known as Mambo; to put a spell on them. The book covers how you can kill a zombie. Zombies and vampires have one thing in common.
I found the book interesting, the book covers all you need to know from making a zombie to killing a zombie. Haiti was described as a magical island. Haiti was recorded as, one of the first places where zombies originated. Zombies and vampires seem to be more popular; they have shown up in movies, books, television, etc!
I think it was a great idea to add at the end of a few chapters: "Zombie Media" which talks about movies, and why they thought they were great; and a must to watch. “Zombie Media” also takes you through what books would be great to read and why.
I would like it if the zombies were not so filled with monotony. All zombie productions are very repetitive. If you've seen one zombie film; you have seen them all. After all, what can a zombie do? Other than walk around like a mindless twit! Other than that there was nothing more I can say what I did not like about the book.
I gave this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. It was well written and well thought out. The fact that all details on how to go about making, as well as destroying a zombie were well executed. I did not give the book a 4 because anything zombie related tends to be repetitive and boring. Despite that, the book was well written and covered a lot of facts and things I did not know. This is why I did not give a rating of 2 stars.
I would think the book is best suited to people 18+ as it has a lot of content that is not suited to people under 18 years old.
