I found the book, By Invitation Only, Nicholas L. Maze well written and easy to read. The reading of the book went quickly. I didn’t want to put it down and wanted to pick it up again as soon as I could. The conversational style of writing made the book personable. The fact that this was written in the first person helped the book to not come across as preachy.

By Invitation Only touches on the basic principles of the Christian faith: forgiveness, healing, the church, one’s testimony (just to name a few). It even included a copy of the sinner’s prayer if someone wants to pray it and accept Christ. I believe this book would be great for not only someone curious about the Christian faith but for more mature Christians as well because it serves as a reminder of the basics all Christians believe. It also reinforces that a Christian walk is a personal decision, no one else can make that decision for you.

The “invitation” that the title of the book refers to is the invitation from God to accept His son, Jesus, as one’s Lord and Savior. The book clearly comes from the belief that no one comes to Christ in and of their own strength. It is God inviting them and drawing them to accept Christ as Savior.

The cover of the book reinforces the invitation message with a hand holding an envelope, which is supposed to represent the invitation. The formatting was professional. I read the book on Amazon Kindle. I didn't give the book, By Invitation Only, a perfect score because the author mentions Bible verses with the book of the Bible, chapter and verse cited. I think it would have been better to actually quote the Bible verse he is referring to, especially if someone that is not yet a Christian is reading and may not know how to find that verse. This would have more of an impact.
