“Awakening” by Jin Lan Cera is a very introspective read that explores the complexities of the human consciousness. The author excellently uses her personal experiences to tell a story that discusses the themes of identity, spirituality, and personal growth. After getting intrigued by Rhonda Byrnes' “The Secret," she goes on to explore its possibilities and proffer some modifications. Her father’s experience with life, sickness, and eventually death further spurs her to explore the possibilities of achieving enlightenment and awakening.

The author writes extensively about Qi Gong and how it can be used for healing. It has also been observed to make usual ability a tool for self-awareness. It has seven principle command messages, which the author clearly states. The experiences of people who were grandmasters of Qi Gong were extensively mentioned, such as Dr. Yan Xin, with practical ways of applying this. These are people that have done great exploits using the Qi Gong technique. The book also contains three steps with which the author used herself to manifest her dreams.

The author’s curiosity on concepts like Qi Gong made the book a very wholesome read because instead of just mentioning them and giving surface value, this author goes on to do in-depth research on these concepts.
I love that the author provided screenshots and links to the YouTube videos that were being referred to in the book, such as interviews featuring researchers in the field of life sciences. The author goes on to write the details of these interviews. These links were not limited to YouTube only but also sites where these concepts can be further researched. A major highlight for me in this book was when the author stated the benefits of Buddhism and the factors that influenced her choice of Buddhism as a religion when she was faced with having to choose among some other religions.

I found nothing I dislike about this book. It was thoroughly proofread and professionally edited. I will thus give this book an excellent rating of five out of five stars. The concepts within were effectively and concisely communicated.

This is a great self-help book and an opportunity to explore Buddhism. Thus, I recommend this book to Buddhists and Taoist practitioners. Also, those interested in Eastern spirituality and mindfulness will find this book very helpful.
