The Benefits of Traditional Standing Seam Roofs is a nonfiction book written by Reed Sinclair. The book covers the types of standing seam metal roofs and their installation. The traditional standing seam metal roofs are being made with metal; this metal has proven to be more durable than other materials used in the production of roofs. I like how the author made mention of the types of standing seam metal roofs that are available; these include snap-lock panels, which are more preferable because of their easy installation process; other types include mechanically seam panels, batten panels, curved panels, and nail flange panels. The materials used for the production of the standing seam metal roofs were also included.

Before installation of the standing seam metal roof, the author makes it clear that it is essential to be fully prepared. This preparation involves the roof structure assessment and the safety measures of the site. I was able to deduce that the safety measures of the site are of great importance because the owners and contractors should be safe during the installation process, homeowners should be educated about site safety, and materials should be cleared from passageways to avoid trip or fall of any individual at all, be it homeowner or contractor. These processes aid in mistake reduction, and the roof structure assessment improves the long-lasting effect of the roof. The author explains that the installation of this roof requires expertise because damage to the roof and leakages can be caused by disorganized installation. I appreciate that the guide on operating a mechanical roof seaming machine was not left out. I learned that it is essential to align roof panels correctly to prevent problems on the roof in the future and that it is also of great importance to make sure that the machine controls are in order and are functional. The author was kind enough to talk about Englert Inc., a company known for their expertise in metal roofing. The company was said to have great quality control during manufacturing as the products undergo serious testing to ensure maximum quality is given to their clients.

I love the book cover; the pictorial representation of the house holds similarity with that of the book. Reed also did a great job in trying to guide a beginner on the steps and guidelines for standing seam metal roof installation. The safety of the homeowner and contractor is a top priority for the author, as the author continued to make mention of the effective use of personal protective equipment for anyone present on site. One thing I dislike about the book is the absence of images; personally, it would be more preferred to see the types of standing seam metal roofs by the time of reading.

I recommend this book to homeowners who want the best roofing style for their homes. Due to the knowledge and awareness it brings to everyone about the benefits of traditional standing seam metal roofs and the perfect editing, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
