Can you sacrifice your professional duties to take on other responsibilities to save your clients? How can one measure the risk they chose to take? How can one measure a client’s importance? Can you risk your life to save that of a client? These questions and more were going through my mind as I read through the book “Quest: Finding Freddie” by Thomas Richard Spradlin.

In the book, a client of the Clifford and Warnke law firm, Frederick David Nachman (Freddie), was the president of an international corporation, Nachman International Trading Corporation (NITC). He went on a business trip to Nigeria to secure a government contract for the corporation. On August 14, he disappeared without a trace. The hotel staff responsible for cleaning found his bed untouched, confirming his disappearance. The search begins!

The news was related to his corporation and every other person concerned. All the means adopted to find him proved abortive. His nationality did nothing much to save the situation because of the political unrest in Nigeria. His wife, Ruth Nachman, went to the client of the Clifford and Warnke law firm and hired the services of Thomas Richard Spradlin, an attorney of the firm, because of his links in Nigeria. At this juncture, the heart-wrenching questions arose. How will Richard carry out the task of finding Freddie? Will he succeed? Did he get betrayed and killed? What is his fate? How will he tread the deadly Nigerian terrain? Readers will find out from the book.

I have not read a book as intense and educational as this. The narrative is instructional and helpful. One of the instructional scenes is when the author explains how to connect with the locals and avoid any possible danger of theft. The book has lots of moral lessons, such as sacrifice. The whole story is about sacrifice. Though there is monetary compensation, for an attorney to leave his primary duty to go on a search mission, he can only be motivated by love and sacrifice. These are the things I like about the book.

The themes are the positive aspects of the book. Some of the themes are love, survival, and sacrifice. The title is also a positive aspect of the book. It explains the whole story. I could not find anything to dislike, as I loved every aspect of the narrative. I could not find any negative aspects as the narrative is non-fiction, and the author is sincere. I rate the “Quest: Finding Freddie” book 5 out of 5 stars. The reasons for my rating are above. I recommend the book to non-fiction book lovers. Young adults will enjoy the book.
