The book, The Reaper’s Dance: 1000 Days of COVID, by Ravi R. Iyer, MD, is a very interesting book based on true stories the author encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic during the year 2020. The author tells of stories of how he kept his clinic open during the entirety of the pandemic, even though several other clinics chose to close down due to a fear of the virus and the lack of essential tools, equipment, and expertise in dealing with this specific virus. The author included several details of stories about his patients’ symptoms and experiences while having the virus. He detailed how the effects of the virus affected not only his patients, but also their families, friends, and many other people in the community.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I like how the author was able to tell of his personal experiences and the experiences of his patients during the pandemic. I also liked how the author took into consideration the feelings of his patients by having measures put in place to protect their privacy with their stories and experiences. The author protected their privacy by fictionalizing the story with fictitious names, so the patients’ sensitive information was not portrayed.

There was honestly nothing that I did not like about the book. I found it very interesting, and it held my attention until the very end of the book. I also did not find any grammatical errors or typos in the book. This is a testament to the exceptional editing that was completed to the book prior to publication.

I would rate this book five out of five stars for all the reasons I have stated above.

I recommend this book to any readers seeking knowledge of the 2020 pandemic and its effects on the lives of different people and families. Medical practitioners would also benefit from reading this book since it has an encouraging message about perseverance through difficult times.
