Let’s Be Honest by Jeremy Grove seeks to instruct believers on living a Biblical life filled with the fruits of the Spirit. He highlights the importance of integrity, not just in situations where integrity comes easily but also when showing integrity comes at a great personal cost.

Grove’s urgings aren’t condescending or judgemental. They are gently convicting, reminding believers of how easy it is to stray from Biblical principles while deluding ourselves into thinking we’re still doing good. He uses scripture to support his assertions, directing readers to a secondary resource if they choose to begin living as Christ instructed. This linked scripture also lends credibility to the author. The messages he’s passing aren’t from him; they’re from God.

The author also includes anecdotes that illustrate the points he’s making, which I like. The anecdotes, whether from modern times or scripture, give believers a tangible example to work towards in our quest for a Biblical life. There are even some illustrations throughout the book that serve the same purpose.

The author acknowledges that it’s easy to abandon truth in a world where its value is diminishing. It is human nature to seek self-preservation over spiritual righteousness, but the Bible provides us with the tools and encouragement to triumph over human nature and seek truth with all our hearts. He urges believers to remember that God has already provided us with everything we need to deny our flesh and live like Christ, starting with integrating honesty into every aspect of our lives.

I would have liked to see more breakdown explanations for some scriptures Grove pulled from more complex translations. While this issue was fixed later, I had to consult different translations of scriptures used at the beginning of the book.

Overall, I would rate this book a 5 out of 5. I would recommend it to any Christian.
