ROAD MAP TO THE END OF DAYS
Author: Daniel Freidmann
Reviewer: Ted Ike.

Where are we from? Why are we here? Where are we going from here? What is the purpose of life? Is the earth going to continue to be or is it spiraling to an end? Is there any life after death? These are some of the questions that man seek answers to as he tries to find meaning to his existence on earth.

Daniel Friedman in this insightful book on Jewish apocalypse tried to answer not only questions bordering on our origin and reason for being on earth, but also on our journey towards the end.
The Abrahamic religions- Christianity, Judaism And Islam, believe that the present world would one day come to an end when the Messiah comes to usher in a reign of peace. However these three religions differ in the identity of the Messiah as well as the time and manner of his coming. Mr. Friedman in this book highlighted the timeline and activities leading to the end of time from the perspective of the Jewish religion.

The author opined that the world was created because God wanted to have an abode in the lower realm. The ultimate purpose for creation is to usher in the Messianic age. This can be achieved through keeping the seven Noadic laws by all mankind and the Jews keeping the 613 commandments of the Torah. However, ‘Amalek' over the years has tried to hinder man from fulfilling his divine mandate. The author said that ‘Amalek' will be finally defeated in the battle of ‘Gog' and ‘Magog ‘.

The author pointed out that the coming of the Messiah can be hastened through obedience to God’s commandments. Using inspirations drawn from the Bible, History and Science the author proposed a timeline for the occurrence of future world events up-to the coming of the Messiah.

I am excited reading this book because it gave me the understanding of eschatology from the perspective of the Jewish religion. While I agree with the author that we are nearing the end of days which will usher in the Messianic rule, I disagree with the date he proposed as the deadline for the end of ends (I. e 2240). According to the author, this the year that the Messianic rule will commence. On the contrary the Bible says that the day for the coming of the Messiah is known to God alone.
The book is well researched and carefully written. The tables and references at the appendices helped to give a better understanding of the points raised in the book. There is no typographical or grammatical errors noticed. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars and recommend it to Christians who want to have a complementary view of eschatology from the perspective of the Jewish religion.
