First Survivor is a beautiful example of a family’s perseverance in the face of an impossible situation. The author’s young son was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, neuroblastoma. The author wrote with such detail and passion about the journey their family took to finally beat this awful illness.

I found myself starting and stopping this book many times. I enjoyed the content but the writing was not engaging and the medical terminology was often difficult to get through. It is understandable that the writing was not as sophisticated as a seasoned author writing a fiction story.

I would recommend this book to anyone going through a similar situation and to those who work with people in these type of situations. I learned a lot about how medical personnel can be helpful and harmful, without even knowing it. Thank you for sharing your story with the world!
