Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Kalliope Barlis’s Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book is an amazing guide that breaks through the conventional golf teaching by going deep into the mental game. The holistic way used in this book sets it apart, blending practical techniques with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to achieve both physical and mental improvements in golf.
This book has been neatly divided into three sections each of which has been intricately designed for helping the golfer improve his performance. It is based on Barlis’s concept of how every individual possesses all that they need to excel at golf in them. The focus on positive thinking, visualization, and involving all senses is new and empowering. Of note are Barlis’ insights on NLP as a tool for creating long-lasting positive changes in thought patterns.
This book deserves 4 out of 5 star rating because Barlis offers an extensive guide to effective practice sessions. A highlight of this feature is the practice formula which entails specific intentions setting and focused interval training. There also exists precious advice here regarding how one can successfully handle things like aim, alignment as well as balance among others when playing golf especially beginners. This book also stands out due to its detailed instructions handling sidehill uphill downhill lies making it great reference material to players of all levels.
One thing that separates this book from other books related to self-development is how accessible it is written for everyone willing to read it. In addition she writes clearly, engages her readers hence makes complex concepts simple enough for any reader who reads her book can apply them immediately as required or even explain them better within their own contexts. Having practical exercises and mental techniques that can be practiced not only on the course but also off the course is another thing that makes this book a never-ending learning experience.
However, some readers may feel that the book is over-reliant on NLP. Even though the mental techniques are well explained, some golfers may want more conventional mechanics-oriented instruction. In addition, left-handed players would need to change their instructions from right to left handed which might cause them slight inconvenience. The editing of the book brilliant. I can’t find any typos or error in it.
I deducted one star for Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book due its strong focus on NLP which does not resonate with all readers. Another reason is that other golfers tend to prefer traditional ways of playing. Moreover, it could be rather difficult for left handed players to do such things as turning themselves through a right hand swing which sometimes maybe irritating. All in all however, this book still improves both your mind and body while playing golf.
To summarize it all, Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book serves as an invaluable resource for people who are keen on enhancing their mental and physical skills in relation to the game of golf. It is unique among other books in this genre because it combines practical skills with mental mastery when dealing with such issues.
