“All You’ll Never Be” by E.L. Neve is a self-help booklet turned audio that takes the reader on a short journey inward to see themselves in a more positive light and recognize that if they made different decisions, if they lived their lives any other way, then they wouldn’t be who and where they are now. It is a very short and sweet listen of just over 20 minutes, and while it was read very slowly, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t hear anything that sounded like an error. Every word was intentional and made sense in context, and the music, while a little bright for the contemplative subject, was a very nice touch.

That said, while the editing was impeccable, I had difficulty understanding this author. The book was read with a breathy voice that muddled her words, and there were also several moments in which I couldn’t tell if she ran out of breath or was just taking a pause in order to stretch the thought out. The painfully slow pace and breathy way that the book was narrated came across as an attempt at trying to make the book read like a guided meditation while being more of a journal entry that was being read aloud. I think that if she cleared her voice and maybe fleshed out the reader's journey into self-reflection even just a little bit this would have been a much more enjoyable listen.

This book is probably a very helpful little booklet, however, I don’t think it has enough depth to really make it as an audiobook, especially given the length. If I was browsing for an audiobook and came across this one organically and saw it was only 22 minutes long I wouldn’t even give it a second look, but ultimately rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I was impressed upon discovering that the author also performed the music for “All You’ll Never Be” herself for the recording.

If someone were to ask me for a short little meditative listen, I would recommend they give this audio a shot.
