Because He Loved Us by Sharon Williams
is a non-fiction religious book that delves into the life and impact of Jesus Christ, who many consider the greatest man to have ever walked the earth. This book deeply explores the foundations of the Christian faith, aiming to provide insight into the works of God and His redemptive efforts, which culminated in the Gospels. One of the key perspectives offered is a comprehensive view of Jesus' life, depicting both His humanity and divinity during His time on earth. The book touches on significant aspects of Jesus' ministry, including His birth, baptism, and leadership.
Williams presents Jesus as a figure who sought to revolutionize Judaism, a religion practiced by the Jews, who are regarded as God's chosen people. The Jews awaited a warrior Messiah who would affirm their superiority and elevate them above all other tribes, races, and ethnicities. They expected a fierce judge who would subdue nations in wrath. Instead, they received a Messiah driven by love, who came to reconcile the condemned and revolutionize Judaism not only for Jews but also for Gentiles (everyone else).
One of the most intriguing aspects of this book is its accessibility; even those who are not Judaists, Christians, or believers in the supernatural can easily follow its narrative. I liked how much the book inspired me to reflect on this saying, "The greatest things in the world do not come in the fanciest packaging."
While I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I disliked the inclusion of unconfirmed sources. I believe this is misleading because the books of the Bible are the most confirmed and accurate sources for representing and authenticating the concepts presented by the author. Despite this, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for its insightful content and how professionally well edited it is. I gained a deeper understanding of the life of Jesus and Christianity as a whole. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about Christianity and its foundational principles.
