Review of Quest: Finding Freddie
Quest: Finding Freddie by Thomas Richard Spradlin tells the story of a missing businessman, Frederick David Nachman (Freddie), who vanished without a trace during a business trip to Lagos, Nigeria, in 1979. Freddie, CEO of Nachman International Trading Corporation (NITC), had traveled to Nigeria to bid on a government contract. His wife, Ruth, seeks help from her company's trusted law firm and hires a lawyer, Richard Spradlin, who was assigned to her, to find him.
Spradlin faced challenges. The Embassy offered no help, and Nigeria's political climate was tense. He built a team of locals he knew from previous visits, and their diverse backgrounds proved valuable, forming a unique bond. The book explores Nigerian history, including internal conflicts and antisemitism, which influenced the search. Spradlin learned that money and connections open doors, and his resourcefulness helped him gain access to information. Spradlin not only searches for Freddie but also learns valuable lessons about the country. Spradlin and his team were focused and motivated, and he achieved his purpose. Even when they dug deeper, they uncovered all sorts of secrets and lies. The journey was filled with twists, and his team did not give up. Spradlin also infuses the story with emotional depth.
The author masterfully builds intrigue around Freddie's disappearance, drawing readers into a world of mystery and danger. With a mix of betrayals and investigations, the story keeps readers guessing until the final revelation. I have no dislike for the book; it is well written, and I found a few grammatical errors in this book. I also understand what patience means in terms of life; it will help you grow when facing challenges. I will rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Thomas Richard Spradlin throws you headfirst into the suspenseful and tragic, finds out what really happened, and explores this power dynamic in a way that's both fascinating and thought-provoking. I will highly recommend these books to readers who enjoy stories that celebrate collaboration, understanding history between different cultures, and mystery.

According to your review this book gives the reader a view of the political climate in Nigeria in the late 1970's, Nigeria's history, how money and having the right connections opens doors to collaboration, and the search for Freddie. This is an intriguing story. Thank you for this well-written review.Grace Jane wrote: ↑25 Jul 2024, 18:08 [Following is a volunteer review of "Quest: Finding Freddie" by Thomas Richard Spradlin.]
