Frederick David Nachman (Freddie) went to Nigeria for a telecommunications business. The top competitors for this project are ITT Nigeria and Siemens Nigeria Ltd. A few days after arriving in Nigeria, though, Freddie was reported to have disappeared as he left his hotel room and never returned. What devastating news for Freddie's wife, Ruth, and his company! She sought the help of a law firm that sent Richard to Nigeria to find Freddie, dead or alive. Richard has been to Nigeria before and knows a lot about the people and state of affairs. Will he find Freddie dead or alive?

One of the most endearing and impressive elements of Spradlin's writing is his use of Nigerian Pidgin English when speaking to people. The author's ability to convincingly employ this Pidgin English made me laugh many times while reading Quest: Finding Freddie by Thomas Richard Spradlin. It's a detail that doesn't go unnoticed by the people he meets while in Nigeria, who often express surprise at hearing an "Oyibo" (the Nigerian term for a white person) speak Pidgin with such fluency. His ability to communicate with them in that language was a bridge between cultures, allowing Spradlin to navigate the social terrain of 1976 Nigeria with greater ease and credibility.

Another thing I took note of and loved was Richard's response to Clifford's information about the rescue mission. Richard's swift and comprehensive strategizing reveals several key aspects of his character, such as quick thinking and attention to detail. His ability to rapidly formulate a plan demonstrates a sharp, analytical mind. Richard's consideration of various aspects of the mission, from logistics to finances, shows his thorough and meticulous nature.

I recommend Quest: Finding Freddie by Thomas Richard Spradlin to anyone seeking to understand the complexities of life in Lagos. The book was professionally edited, and I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. There were absolutely no negative aspects to the book.

Great job on this review! The way you captured the essence of Nigeria’s political backdrop mixed with the personal story of Freddie’s disappearance has me hooked. I think I’ll give it a try!

I really enjoyed Freddie's Pidgin Nigerian skills as well. Thank you for the review! I had read through a handful of reviews before selecting this book for my own review. I appreciate you sharing your take on this book, and look forward to reading more of your content!
